Leung Shuen Wan Pier, built in the 1990s, is situated in the southwest of the High Island Reservoir in Sai Kung District. The pier is adjacent to Leung Shuen Wan Fish Culture Zone and is mainly used by local villagers and fishermen. The Sai Kung Hoi Arts Festival has also been held in Leung Shuen Wan since 2023.

Learn moreTin Hau Temple is in front of Leung Shuen Wan Pier, and it was rated a Grade 3 historic building in 2010. It has an ancient bell inscribed with the characters “the 6th year of the Qianlong era” (1741). It is said to be the oldest building on the island. To celebrate Tin Hau Festival, the villagers hold the celebration rituals, which lasts for six days, every two years.
Walking along MacLehose Trail, you can reach High Island Reservoir East Dam at the end of Man Yee Road. With a total area of 6.67 sq km, High Island Reservoir is now the largest reservoir in Hong Kong. The breakwater of the East Dam is formed by about 7,000 huge anchor-shaped concrete blocks, the distinctive feature of which attracts many visitors.
Walking along the geo trail lying beside the High Island Reservoir East Dam, you can see the hexagonal rock columns. They were formed when volcanic materials cooled down following the volcanic eruptions 140 million years ago. It is a rare geographical marvel in the world and was selected as the First 100 International Union of Geological Sciences Geological Heritage Sites.
At the end of the trail, you can see a sea cave. The sea cave was formed as waves wore away the coastline softer rock slowly over time. In the past, this was a narrow waterway running along the fault line between High Island and Sai Kung Peninsula.
Nestled along the breathtaking shores of Pak Lap Wan, you can discover an abundance of water sports waiting to be explored. In Pak Lap Bay Beach, there is even a wooden walkway that has emerged as a popular photo spot in recent years.
